A little over five years ago, my husband and I made the decision to pack up and move to Charlottesville. I left my first classroom as a kindergarten teacher in tears secretly wishing that I could stay there forever. After our wedding, we started our new life in Virginia while my husband studied at Darden Business School. The first few weeks were pretty tough for me. I was so homesick and wanted to make friends so badly! BUT that did not last long. Chad introduced me to his classmate's significant others and before I knew it we were all inseparable. There were many game nights, pool get togethers, parties, dinners, etc. When my husband and I would come home to visit our family, I would find myself homesick and wanting to get back to Virginia! We have shared some amazing times, including the birth of my son, and also cried so many tears as we mourned the loss of one of our dearest Charlottesville family members. Through the good and the bad, we were all there for each other.
This past weekend, most of our Charlottesville family came to visit us- ten adults and eight children total! The house was full of giggling voices, fast little feet, and love (not to mention the smell of dirty diapers that lingered around each day or the tiny cheerio/goldfish/waffle crumbs that were smushed on the kitchen floor and stuck between our toes). It's been a year since we have all seen each other and we started back up right where left off. It's funny how we have very different personalities, but compliment each other perfectly when we are all together. The weather was just beautiful. We enjoyed playing on the farm, fishing, cooking out, crabs (yes... crabs!), roasting marshmallows, and making yummy s'mores by the fire. What a wonderful weekend to reunite with great friends. I am looking forward to the next one. Miss you all already!
